Wainwright To Start All-Star Game

National League and Cardinals manager Mike Matheny has named his ace, Adam Wainwright, as the starting pitcher in the 2014 All-Star Game.

On the season, Wainwright is 12-4 with a 1.83 ERA as well as three complete games pitched, two of them shutouts.

This is the first time Waino will be making the start in a Midsummer Classic.

Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter and relief pitcher Pat Neshek were also voted onto the NL All-Star roster.

Catcher Yadier Molina was voted as the starting catcher for the NL All-Star team but will not participate due to his thumb injury.

The 2014 All-Star Game will be on July 15th at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
