Rare Blue Lobster Found In Deli Tank

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (CBS St. Louis) – A rare blue lobster is currently on display in the deli tank after being found by staff at the Schnucks Market.

The lobster came in their regular shipment from Massachusetts-based supplier North Atlantic on Aug. 6, KFVS reported.

A deli clerk first noticed the lobster in the tank and posted a photo on Facebook of the rare crustacean.

Since the photo upload, many people have come by the store to see the blue lobster.

Employees from the store shared that it was the first time they had ever had one in their store.

It weighs 1.35 pounds and the current rate for purchasing a lobster at the store is $19.99 per pound.

The blue lobster is estimated at one out of every two million. Since they are so rare it is now going to be moved to The World Aquarium in St. Louis.
