ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOX) – A precautionary boil order is in effect for some Missouri American Water customers in west St. Louis County.

The company says tap water should be boiled for at least three minutes before drinking or cooking.

The boil order covers parts of Ballwin, Manchester, and Town and Country.

Missouri American says customers should have received a phone call alert and will get another call when the order is lifted.

The action comes after a power outage affected the service area’s water treatment plant.
