ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – With two more states and the District of Columbia voting to legalize marijuana Tuesday, those backing legalization in Missouri are ready to give it try.

Show-Me Cannabis spokesman John Payne says his group has filed a petition to get the issue on the November 2016 ballot.

“The reason that we’re looking for 2016 is because, obviously, the polls have been moving in favor of this in Missouri and nationwide for some time now,” he says.

Payne tells Total Information AM they want the question on the ballot in a presidential election because it will have a larger, younger turnout.

He says if full legalization doesn’t get enough public support, Show-Me Cannabis would seek legalizing pot for medicinal use.
