John Leguizamo Cast As Lead In CBS Comedy ‘Taxi-22’

A TV project developed by late actor James Gandolfini has found its lead in comedian John Leguizamo, according to Huffington Post.

“Taxi-22,” an American adaptation of a French-Canadian series, was picked up by CBS in June 2013, two weeks before Galdolfini’s death. The series is said to have been a passion project for the late actor.

A single-camera comedy, the series follows an opinionated New York City cab driver, but no other details have been provided.

The original series, which took place in Montreal, Canada centered on cab driver Rogatien Dubois Jr. an his interactions with his passengers and guest stars.

“Taxi-22” will be co-executive produced by Leguizamo while Galdolfini is expected to credit posthumously as an executive producer.

Originally piloted for January 2014, the series’ premiere date on CBS is still unknown.
