ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Homeowners in the historic St. Louis neighborhood Bohemian Hill, between Lafayette Square and Soulard, are being bought out by a mystery bidder. People are convinced it’s QuikTrip, but the company said it’s not involved.
This homeowner, who requested to remain nameless, says while almost all her neighbors say they’ll take the deal, she doesn’t want to.
“I love this house,” the homeowner says. “My grandparents came to this country and they helped build St. Peter and Paul (church), my mother was born in Soulard, I have a lot of roots here and this house had everything that I wanted”
She moved into her home on May 22. Then came the letter.
“So I’m in my house four days then I found out I don’t have a house,” she says. “So I stopped unpacking. Why unpack?
“What’s upsetting to me is that nobody along the line said something about this. And I think somebody knew, somebody had to know.”
St. Louis Alderman Jack Coatar says he will keep a close eye on whatever the mystery buyer has planned.
“Tearing down those gorgeous homes there to make way for a gas station is certainly not something I would support,” Coatar says.
