ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – In the aftermath of the deadly church shooting in South Carolina, there are reports the Klu Klux Klan is spreading recruitment fliers in Kansas, California, Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia.

Karen Aroesty with the Anti-Defamation League says the Klan has few followers in Missouri.

“Klan groups have tried to use opportunities like this for years to make themselves better known and to make people think they are stronger and more populated than they actually are,” says Aroesty. “But I don’t see that they are actually trolling for recruits with these flyers.”

Aroesty says that she hasn’t heard of a Klan leafleting in Missouri since the church killings and in the state the Klan remains a “fringe group with small numbers.” She also adds when they are seen, there’s only a few of them making a lot of noise, but that is all that they have.
