ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Tens of thousands of people will be in downtown St. Louis Saturday morning to run, jog and walk 18th Annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
The KMOX team has again partnered with the St. Louis Cardinals and and more, but this time we have a much closer reason to support the fundraiser for breast cancer research and service. A morning show host of our sister station, Jen Myers on KYKY Y98, was diagnosed with breast cancer last month.
You can read all about how she has already kept a positive attitude for her young children, husband and close friends, here.
The KMOX team, apart of CBS Radio St. Louis, will again work with the Cardinals, Mercy Hospital and Overhead Door Company of St. Louis for a special race team. Dr. John Finnie is a cancer specialist at Mercy Hospital
“I think (the Komen race) serve a great function in that it lets everybody know about this being a common problem and it is a quite common diagnosis,” Finnie says. “It just puts awareness out there and demystifies it.”
Last year, more than 21,000 took part in the race, which raised $1.4 million.
