Riverview Gardens Improves But Misses Accreditation

MOLINE ACRES, Mo. (KMOX) — The Riverview Gardens school district is still not accredited.

The Missouri State Board of Education denied its request for provisional accreditation, even though Dr. Chris Neale, Assistant Commissioner for the Office of Quality Schools, says major gains were made since the last request.

“We want to commend the district for the progress they have made,” Neale says. “But at the end of the examination period, we were not able to firmly establish they’d met all five targets.”

Neale says students met target scores in English and math but missed the mark in science and social studies. Neale also noted improvements in areas like college and career readiness and attendance, which the Board of Education considers non-academic student performance — the fifth target area.

The district can try for accreditation again this fall.
