Maplewood Woman’s Wild Yard Goes to Court

MAPLEWOOD, Mo. (KMOX) – A Maplewood woman’s long battle with City Hall moves to the next level.

Seventy-year-old Alice Hezel will make a court appearance today at 6 p.m. because some of the flowers in her garden on Cambridge Avenue are taller than 12 inches.

She describes herself as a “good resident and good neighbor” who believes the city could be doing better things than harassing her because her flowers are too tall.

Hezel says the city itself is cultivating the same kinds of flowers in a park along Sutton, and some of those violate the one-foot-high rule.
