ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – If you have ever had the dream to build something, but you are not sure how or where to get started, there is just the place coming to the Cortex Innovation District.
TechShop, a workshop that allows members to use professional tools and equipment, is expected to open by the end of the month.
Inside the industrial-strength do-it-yourself workshop, there will be more than $1 million worth of industrial equipment including waterjet cutters, lasers, 3-D printers and industrial sewing machines.
If you want to sew an article of clothing, craft a piece of furniture, or prototype what you think could be the next big tech invention — this place will let you do all of it.
And, yes, there will also be workshops and classes to teach you how to use the equipment.
The St. Louis location will be the ninth TechShop in the country.
Although the space will not open until later this month, there is a chance to preview the facilities during an event next Saturday.
