Collinsville Officer Wins Award for Heroic Rescue

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) – Collinsville police are celebrating one of their officers after he was awarded the Fraternal Order of Police State Lodge Valor Award last month.

Officer Michael Bauer received the award for risking his personal safety in order to rescue a man from a burning home back in March.

This isn’t the first time Bauer has been recognized for his efforts. In 2007, he also rescued a person from a burning building in Collinsville.

The Valor award honors officers who go above and beyond their normal duties to assist others.
