STL Cop Sues Department, Claims Racial Discrimination

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — Another St. Louis police officer is claiming racial discrimination as he was passed over for a job promotion.

Major Michael Caruso sued Chief Sam Dotson and the department Wednesday claiming he, a white man, was passed over for a promotion in favor of a black man based on race. Caruso says he scored higher on the promotion test than Ronnie Robinson who got the promotion in September 2015.

The lawsuit comes several months after the city settled a racial discrimination lawsuit for $800,000. A white sergeant claimed he was passed over for an assistant director position in favor of a black female.
