Black Press Champion George Curry Dies

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The “Dean of Black Columnists” and a former St. Louis Post-Dispatch writer has died.

Alabama native George Curry suffered a heart attack on Saturday. He was 69.

Among his long list of accomplishments, Curry was a founding director of the St. Louis Minority Journalism Workshop.

The University of Missouri School of Journalism awarded him its “Honor Medal for Distinguished Service in Journalism,” the highest honor it bestows.
