FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (KMOX) – Is Hillary Clinton an “insider” threat to national security?
That’s what trainees at Fort Leonard Wood were taught for 18 months. Clinton’s photo was next to those of Gen. David Patraeus, Fort Hood shooter Nadal Hasan, and leakers Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden as “insider threats.”
The PowerPoint training slide was posted Sunday on the U.S Army W.T.F! moments Facebook page, and Army Times Editor Tony Lombardo says once Army Training and Doctrine Command learned about it, they had it pulled “promptly.”
Lombardo says there’s not a lot of concern from the Army rank and file that this is a big deal.
“You might be surprised to learn that a lot of soldiers are defending the slide, and they note that it’s legitimate to consider Hillary Clinton [an] insider threat because of her use of private email address and classified information,” he says.
Regardless, Lombardo reports the slide was only used for a local training course.
“As is common with Army training requirements, the local unit was given latitude to develop their own training products to accomplish the overall training objective,” TRADOC spokesman Maj. Thomas Campbell said in a statement provided to Army Times and other media outlets. “This particular presentation had not been reviewed or approved by the unit’s leadership, and does not reflect the position of the Army.”
What about the rest of this course?
“We’ve only seen the one slide, so the greater context is still a mystery for us,” Lombardo says.
