ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Justin Hulsey says he’s trying to make downtown safer with his armored gun truck and he’s not giving up on it so easily.
In July, Hulsey tried to bring Mobile Safe Storage to the Paddy O’s parking lot near Busch Stadium. He wanted to give people a place to store their guns and other valuables to avoid theft during games.
The city told Hulsey he didn’t have the permits to operate and threatened arrest if he tried to set up shop near the stadium. They also wouldn’t let him operate out of his building at 2nd Street and Chouteau Avenue.
The retrofitted armored truck initially got a lot of support, but was quickly rescinded since it presented “an image issue,” Hulsey says.
Hulsey’s out of time to make his dream a reality this season, but he has a meeting next month with the Board of Public Service to discuss setting up his armored truck near Scottrade Center come October.
