County Council Close to Smoking Age Decision

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The St. Louis County Council is one vote away from raising the legal smoking age to 21.

Supporters say this is a public health issue, those who start smoking at a young age are less likely to quit.

But some opponents say this is an example of government overreach. Others say the council should eliminate e-cigarettes from the legislation.

One more vote is needed next week for final passage.
