Laclede Gas says they have stopped the flow of gas to one home.

The Missouri Department of Transportation asks motorists to consider using Interstate 170 and Interstate 64 as alternate routes around the closure.

A spokeswoman at Laclede Gas tells KMOX a neighbor smelled the odor of natural gas and called the utility. The shutdown of the interstate was taken as a precaution because of the proximity of the home to the interstate.

Laclede Gas and the Creve Couer Fire Department are on the scene.

MoDOT says on its website that the shutdown is expected to last until at least 3 p.m. Laclede Gas officials could not give a specific time frame.
