MADISON COUNTY, Ill. (KMOX) – Two Tuscon, Arizona women are in jail after a traffic stop that led to significant money laundering charges.

Illinois State Police say Francisca Encinas and Yesenia Guillen were pulled over Sunday on Southbound I-55/70 for speeding and license plate obstruction.

Officers eventually found more than $500,000 hidden throughout several compartments in the car, packaged in a manner “consistent with drug trafficking.”

Encinas and Guillen are being held in the Madison County Jail without bond.
