ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A 19-year-old Bel-Ridge man has been officially charged with first-degree kidnapping, unlawful use of a weapon, and felony tampering with a motor vehicle.

The charges against Seth Ward stem from an incident Thursday in which he allegedly stole a car from a gas station in north St. Louis County, with two children still inside.

The vehicle was parked outside a Mobil station at Page Avenue and North Hanley Road.

As police launched a search for the missing vehicle and the two children inside, ages 2 and 4, the suspect let the girl and her brother get out of the car about a half mile away in University City.

They were reportedly not harmed.

The weapons charge is because Ward was allegedly armed with a gun.
