Police Need Help Locating Car Wanted in Connection with Hit-and-Run

MACOUPIN COUNTY, Ill. (KMOX) – The Macoupin County Sheriff needs the public’s help locating a car wanted for a hit-and-run accident Sunday morning on Illinois 4 in Macoupin County.

Authorities say a bicyclist was struck and suffered injuries around 9:44 a.m.,  1/4 to 1/2 mile north of Staunton Country Club.

The 55-year-old St. Louis-area man was knocked off his bicycle and the car that hit him left the scene.

A witness told police they saw a maroon Hyundai Santa Fe SUV with front passenger side damage traveling southbound on Route 4 around the time of the incident.

The driver was a white male with a blue tank top with a hat on backwards. If you have any information, you are asked to call the Macoupin County Sheriff at (217) 854-3135.
