ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – New replacement drinking fountains are going in at several St. Louis Public Schools. The originals fountains were found to have high levels of lead.
Spokesman Patrick Wallace tells KMOX the fountains have been purchased and while some are already installed, they have not been turned on as yet. That will happen once all the systems can be checked at once.
It’s estimated that by the end of October, all the affected schools will have clean, lead-free running water.
A complete update will be provided at the next school board meeting set for September 26th, 2016.
