UPDATED: Poplar Bluff Police Make Arrest in Homicide Case

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (AP/KMOX) – (Updated: 5:17 a.m.) The Poplar Bluff Police Department have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a 79-year-old woman Thursday afternoon.

Police say Marion Carter died of blunt force trauma around 3:00 p.m. A few hours later, they arrested 39-year-old Eric Wyatt in the 1300 block of Spring Street, charging him with first-degree murder.

Authorities investigating a southeast Missouri homicide are searching for an “armed and dangerous” man.

Poplar Bluff Police Chief Danny Whiteley says a call came in Wednesday afternoon about a person found dead at a home. KFVS-TV reports that the person of interest in the case is a 39-year-old man.

Whiteley says it’s too early in the investigation to release any other details. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
