“The most trusted opinion in rock music” (Billy Corgan, The Smashing Pumpkins), Matt Pinfield offers the ultimate music fan’s memoir, a chronicle of the songs and artists that inspired his improbable career alongside some of the all-time greats, from The Beatles to KISS to U2 to The Killers.
Matt Pinfield is the ultimate music fan. He’s the guy who knows every song, artist, and musical riff ever recorded, down to the most obscure band’s B-side single on its vinyl-only EP import. As a child, music helped Pinfield make sense of the world. Later, as a teenager, Pinfield would approach his music idols after concerts and explain why he loved their music. As an adult, rock music inspired his career, fueled relationships, and, at times, became a life raft. This morning Matt took some time to talk to Jon about his new book “All These Things That I’ve Done”.
In my Day we didn’t have kids on their cell phones in class. To be fair kids didn’t even have cell phones it was a beeper. Wait, it wasn’t that either. We were passing notes on folded sheets of paper and darn it if your teacher caught you and made you read it out loud. So much changes so fast when we think of pop culture; do you remember the rap battles on the street corner? How about when we all thought mixing pop rocks and soda would make your stomach explode. Do you remember slouch socks with high heels? I do and so does my friend Rob Ross from PopDose.com. Which is why we look to him to help keep us on top of the latest trends in Pop Culture each week on the show. This week Rob talks about new music, trends on tv, and more.
