ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The Ferguson and St. Louis police departments are among four in the area receiving Department of Justice grants to add or retain officers.
Ferguson is getting a quarter-million dollars to fund two community engagement officers. St. Louis is receiving over $1.8 million for 15 homicide officers.
In addition, Hazelwood’s getting a quarter-million dollars for two “gun violence” officers, while Normandy is receiving $125,000 for an “impartial policing” officer.
The four police departments are among 184 nationwide receiving $119 million in grants.
