Lindenwood Student Volunteer Gets New Wheels from BBBS

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) – A member of the Lindenwood University Wrestling Team received a bicycle for his birthday – thanks to Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Darius Lewis is a regular volunteer at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois office on Frank Scott Parkway. He often rode his bike to get there, parking it outside the building.

One day his bike was stolen.

However, Big Brothers Big Sisters President and CEO Natalie Jablonski wasn’t going to let a bike thief stand in the way of Lewis continuing to give back. So, she gave him some new wheels – a black mountain bike from the Bike Surgeon.

It just so happened to be delivered on Lewis’ birthday.

He says he normally doesn’t even celebrate his birthday other than maybe some ice cream. Lewis adds to get a new bike was a “big surprise” and “pretty awesome.”
