ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – As Sunday’s debate at Washington University draws closer, there will be many topics on the minds of the American people.
John Hishta of AARP, who will be attending the debate, hopes one of the topics that will come up is the future of Social Security.
“Frankly, Social Security is one of those issues if they laid out there what their plan is for the future, the benefit on the electoral side would be great,” he says.
Hishta says several thousand AARP members have reached out to the debate moderator in hopes that they will bring up the topic.
“We have a very broad membership that cares deeply about the issue of Social Security and we have been actively engaged in forcing the conversation with both candidates for President the entire time that they’ve been out there campaigning,” he says.
Hishta says there is no guarantee that he will be selected to ask a question on Sunday.
