ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -Solving crime is a priority for police in the Bi-State, but not always an easy task without the public’s help. That’s where St. Louis Regional CrimeStoppers comes in.
Now in its 10th year, CrimeStoppers’ Executive Director St. Louis Police Officer Lisa Pisciotta says anonymity is the key to the program’s success. Each and every tip analyzed to make sure there is nothing can be traced back to the tipster. Overnight, tips are sent to a call center which is operated by CrimeStoppers USA.
The program is totally funded with private donations and that limits its reach. Pisciotta wants to see funding increased so more advertising can be done to let people know there is a place they can turn that gives them total anonymity.
