ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The Democratic National Committee kicked off its “Forward Together” bus tour, Sunday in St. Louis, with some Missourians on board.

Governor Jay Nixon and Congressman Lacy Clay spoke to a gathering outside the Missouri History Museum.

Clay said Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is out of touch with many of the platforms the Congressional Black Caucus endorses, “He never really cared or had any concern about the plight of the African-American community until he started taking advice from Omarosa and Don King.”

Nixon had a message for Missouri voters, “Don’t be distracted. Elections are important. Issues matter. Hillary Clinton is focused on helping kids, keeping college affordable, and moving the economy forward.”

Reverend Jesse Jackson also spoke outside the history museum.

The civil rights leader said Hillary Clinton believes in a “Big Tent America” and has earned his endorsement, “We trust her to fight for gender equality and racial justice, and to respect our Mexican neighbors, and to not insult our Muslim allies.”
