Katherine Derleth and newborn son, also named Christopher, were found in a rural mountain area of West Virginia about a week after being reported missing.

The Kanawha County, West Virginia clerk gave Madison County 10 days to retrieve 39-year-old Christopher Derleth. Captain Mike Dixon originally wasn’t sure if it would take two days or two weeks. The county coordinates with three people who transport prisoners who says it’s a matter of timing and money.

Derleth had been under a restraining order to stay away from his stepdaughter, Katherine, and her child amid a Bond County investigation into his paternity.
