ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Monopoly anyone? Perhaps Taboo, Bananagrams or Sorry? A new bar opening in Soulard will give you these options – and about 500 more.
Pieces is a board game cafe coming to Soulard in mid-December. It’s slated to open on 8th Street just north of the Soulard Farmers Market.
The new concept is asking bar hoppers to put down their electronics and enjoy each other’s company.
Owners James, Ameet and Laura had experienced great conversation and lots of fun at board game bars in other cities, and realized there are a lot of gamers in St. Louis.
“There’s also a lot of board game producers and manufacturers in St. Louis that are always on Kickstarter, and just great board game companies,” Laura says. “So it seemed like a good fit for us since a lot of people have a lot of interest in gaming in St. Louis.
To start, they’ll be open nights and weekends — except Mondays — and during the day they’d like to donate the space for local charities to use.
“We’re actually starting with a library of over 500 board games, and we’re looking to grow from there,” James says.
Pieces will have a small plate menu that will eventually become a full food menu, plus a full bar.
A kickstarter is still active — search for “St. Louis Pieces.”
