EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) – A bomb scare shut down all activity at the post office in Edwardsville for several hours.
Deputy Police Chief Jeff Mills says the call came in just before 10 a.m.
“Officers arrived and looked at it and there was nothing on the package that showed that it was to be delivered to someone, there was no mailing labels or anything visible, and so we treated like a suspicious package,” he says.
A long wait ensued as the Secretary of State’s bomb disposal robot was brought in from Springfield. Mills says that accounted for most of the 4-hour delay.
Eventually, it was determined that the package contained computer parts, and the all clear was given just after 2 p.m.
