ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A new office building is planned for downtown St. Louis – the first new construction in a long time.
While plenty of historic buildings have been rehabbed, new construction is not as common.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch says it would be the first new office building downtown in 30 years.
And it’s planned for a prime spot, too.
Right across from Busch Stadium, next to the Westin Hotel, the five-story building would be mostly office space with some retail mixed in.
The Komen Group is asking for $8.7 million in TIF incentives for the $44 million project. A Komen representative told the TIF commission that a business already downtown is lined up to occupy the space.
The front of the building facing the stadium would angle along with the curve in the MetroLink tracks.
