CLAYTON, Mo. (KMOX/AP) – (Updated 9:06 a.m.) St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger says he intends to sign an executive order tonight at the county council meeting to change the name of Clydesdale Park to Officer Blake C. Snyder Memorial Park.
After seeing the great response of community support during the aftermath of Snyder’s death, Stenger says he was convinced that changing the name of the park was the right thing to do.
“Quite literally for 40 miles…the overpasses were filled with citizens and first responders onlooking and showing their support and their love,” he says.
Stenger also mentioned he is open to other innovative ideas the community may have to remember the sacrifice Officer Snyder made.
A park in St. Louis County will soon be named in honor of a police officer killed in the line of duty.
St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger says Clydesdale Park will be renamed to honor county officer Blake Snyder, who was fatally shot by a suspect Oct. 6. Snyder’s funeral was last week.
Stenger will enact the name change with an executive order that does not require approval of the county council. He expects to sign the order within a few days.
