Man Shot By Security Guard in Ferguson

FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOX) – KMOX has received reports of a shooting involving a security guard in Ferguson on Canfield Drive – the same street where Michael Brown was fatally shot in 2014.

Police say there was a dog running loose in the complex chasing children. The father of one of the children tried to chase the dog away with a large stick.

The owner came out and confronted the father with a gun. The security guard saw the owner with the gun and ordered him to drop his weapon – which he refused.

“The security guard happens to, around the corner, sees this man brandishing the weapon – yells for him to put the gun down on a couple of occasions,” Ferguson Polie Chief Delrish Moss says. “He points it one more time. The security guard fires to defend the man with the stick.”

Police says several shots were fired by the guard striking the man. He was taken to the hospital with injuries that are believed to be non life-threatening.

Identities have not yet been released.

Information will be provided as it is received.
