KANSAS CITY (KMOX) – Dignitaries from around the world are converging on Kansas City, and its towering World War I monument today to observe the 100th anniversary of the day the U.S. entered “The Great War.”

Some 3,000 people have snapped-up tickets for the observance called “In Sacrifice for Liberty and Peace.”

The event at the nation’s Official World War One monument will feature patriotic music, speeches and readings from 1917.
