ST. LOUIS (KMOX)(UPDATED 3:03 p.m.) When the Chase Park Plaza is taken over by its new owners this summer, its name will NOT change, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The hotel will remain the Chase Park Plaza.

“That name is iconic. We have no intention of getting rid of that name,” John G. Murray, president and COO of Hospitality Properties Trust, told the Post-Dispatch.

The historic Chase Park Plaza Hotel is being sold, and the famous name will not remain.

In its first quarter report to shareholders, real estate investment firm Hospitality Properties Trust noted its $87.8 million purchase of the Chase is expected to be complete by the second quarter of this year.

Shareholders were told the Chase will be rebranded to the Royal Sonesta Hotel brand.

Boston based Hospitality Properties has hotel properties in 45 states, Puerto Rico and Canada.
