STL City Officers Involved in Shooting

St. Louis, MO (KMOX) – UPDATED – A suspect is hospitalized in critical condition, shot by officers after he reportedly tried to hit one of them with his SUV.

St. Louis City Interim Police Chief, Lawrence O’Toole says shortly after noon on Saturday, officers noticed a red Chevy Blazer parked in a lot in the 42-hundred block of South Broadway.  The vehicle had sped away from other officers on two previous occasions earlier in the week.
The patrolmen got out of their car and as they approached on foot, the driver reportedly started the engine and drove directly toward one officer.   That officer fired several shots, hitting the suspect.
The officer who fired his weapon has been with the department 3 and a half years.   He’s been placed on leave during the investigation.
