UPDATE: Maryland Heights Officer Injured After Concert

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. (KMOX) – A 21-year-old south St. Louis County man has been charged in Thursday night’s incident at Hollywood Casino Amphitheater that resulted in a Maryland Heights police officer being injured.

Deangelo Smith is charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest and assaulting an officer.

Police say Smith hit the officer’s car after refusing to stop for another officer, who suspected he was driving drunk. Smith’s car brushed the first officer, but he was not hurt.

The injured officer was treated at a hospital and released

Smith is being held on $50,000 cash-only bond.

A Maryland Heights Police officer injured in a pursuit last night. It happened outside the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater on 141 and Riverport Drive.

Police say a suspect struck an officer then a police car and that’s when the pursuit started. The suspect ended up hitting several other cars and a second police car before being arrested.

As of this morning, the officer has been released from the hospital with minor injuries. The suspect, a 21-year-old male, is accused of impaired driving after leaving a concert and is expected to be charged today.
