ST. PETERS, Mo. (KMOX) – (UPDATED 1 p.m.) The natural gas leak that prompted the evacuation of four homes in St. Peters has been shut off, and everyone is back home.
A contractor hit a gas line on Whispering Ridge Lane about 10:30 a.m. Laclede Gas crews stopped the flow about noon.

“We have homes evacuated off of Whispering Ridge Lane, pretty much in the area of Summerwood and Amberglen Drive,” says officer Melissa Doss, with the St. Peters Police Department.
Laclede Gas is on the scene, she says, and as soon as the gas is turned off at its source, it should be safe for people go back home.
