ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The search for a man who drove his truck into the Mississippi River Saturday morning has been suspended.

Police say the driver was sitting in in his vehicle in a parking lot near the shore when he hit the gas and drove into the river near Lumiere Place.

Witnesses say he got out, swam briefly, then went under and never came up.

Rescue crews searched for several hours but couldn’t find the man or his truck.
