ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Schlafly’s newest beer will debut today during St Louis Craft Beer week.
It’s called “Local Oak”. Steven Hale, one of the founding brewers, says this beer is aged for three months in a huge wooden vessel.
“It’s known as a ‘Foeder’ and it’s built right here in St. Louis from native Missouri oak grown in the Ozark forest,” he says.
The beer contains slightly less alcohol than your average craft beer. This is Schlafly’s first sour beer, intentionally acidic and tart.
