National Guard Heads to Virgin Islands Clean Up

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Missouri National Guard helicopters and crews are heading to the Virgin Islands, to help hurricane response efforts.

Under an executive order signed by Governor Eric Greitens, the guard is sending four UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and 30 soldiers from Fort Leonard Wood and Whiteman Air Force Base.

The units are expected to be in the Virgin Islands for 30 days, assisting in search and rescue, aerial reconnaissance and personnel transportation.
