ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Congressman Lacy Clay says he’s pleased with the swift response by federal prosecutors and the FBI to calls for an investigation into police conduct during the Stockley protests.

Federal officials have announced their intention to conduct a probe into “allegations of potential civil rights violations” during the demonstrations that followed the September 15th Stockley verdict.

“The first amendment is vital, and because, like our local police, it defends everyone, both are essential to our country and our community,” Clay says.

Clay made his call for a federal investigation in the wake of US District Judge Catherine Perry’s ruling that put new restrictions on the actions police officers can take against protesters.
