ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A Springfield, Missouri, orthodontist got quite the surprise when he learned a T-shirt he created 35 years ago is featured in a huge Netflix hit.

Dr. Wes Allai, in 1982, created an orange T-shirt featuring a rocketship and astronauts floating around a mouth with braces. It reads, “Brace yourself for the future.”

Gaten Matarazzo’s character, Dustin, is seen wearing the shirt in the Netflix series “Stranger Things.”

Allai told KMOX’s Mark Reardon it’s appropriate because Matarazzo has a rare dental condition that requires orthodontics.

“He has a foundation set up to support the recognition and studies towards solving the mutation that causes that problem,” he says.

Allai’s daughter is selling the shirts in an Etsy shop for $19.99, the proceeds of which Allai says could go to Matarazzo’s foundation.
