ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Up to a $10 thousand dollar reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of whomever broke into three gun stores, stealing from two of them.
The ATF, St. Louis County Police Department and the National Shooting Sports Foundation announced the reward yesterday.
The ATF’s $5,000 reward is being matched by the sports foundation. The ATF’s John Ham says the suspects are believed to have broken into three guns shops last month within days of each other. He says rewards aren’t always offered, but he calls these suspects ‘brazen’.
“Robbery from gun shops has been up almost 130 percent, so this is something that ATF is combating on a daily basis. We are throwing a tremendous amount of resources at it,” he says.
The Razorback Armory on Manchester Road in Des Peres and the “On Target’ on Vance Road in Valley Park, were broken into.
Several firearms were taken from each location. Investigators believe the same suspects broke into Triple Threat Armory on Gravois Road in Afton, but they couldn’t steal anything, because the owner had locked the firearms in a gun safe.
