ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Last year they filled up more than two semi trailers with donated items, but a Metro East charity is falling far short of that this holiday season.

Sherry Gilleland with Dream Home Charities in Wood River is trying to figure out why they’ve only reached about 40 percent of this year’s goal.

“I think that this year with the weather, it was so nice, nobody was really thinking that it would get here so fast, and now we’re six days away, and Thanksgiving was earlier again this year,” she says.

Regardless, they’re looking for final week donations of personal hygiene and cleaning products, coats, gloves and non-perishable food items.

The deadline is this coming Saturday.

You can find out more about giving on the Dream Home Charities Facebook page.
