ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Three insiders and five candidates from outside the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department are now in the running for St. Louis Police Chief.
City Personnel Director Rich Frank says half are non-white, and one is a woman.
“In terms of gender, we have one female, and that’s pretty historical,” he says. “We reached out to the National Association of Law Enforcement Executives for Women, and unfortunately we have not just seen that much diversity in terms of women, yet, at the command rank.”
Frank says the top six will be certified by Public Safety Director Jimmy Edwards, and they will interview with St. Louis mayor Lyda Krewson the next day.
He says the new chief should be named by December 15.
