COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMOX) – East St. Louis native Terry Beckner, Jr. is committed to staying at the University of Missouri for his senior season, the school announced Friday.

The junior defensive lineman is one of the nation’s best at his position this season, logging 35 tackles and 7 sacks in 12 games. The Tigers are awaiting a postseason bowl bid.

“I’m excited to make this decision and move on to finishing this season out the right way. We have a chance to do something really special and keep momentum going into next year. I want to be a part of that and help lead the team in the right direction,” said Beckner in a news release.

Tigers head coach Barry Odom says he’s excited by Beckner’s announcement, “Everyone knows he’s a high-impact player, but even more so he’s an incredible leader for the program and is an outstanding representative of Mizzou… It’s importnt to Terry and his family that he earns his degree, and he’s on pace to do that.”
