ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner is facing a challenger in the Republican primary.
Wheaton State Rep. Jeanne Ives announced her candidacy Monday morning. She vowed to change how schools are funded, make higher education affordable, reduce the size of government and cut pay for state workers, including lawmakers.
“It’s time the ruling class politicians took a 40 percent pay cut, and Illinois families got a bump from the government that is supposed to represent their interest,” she says.
Today is the deadline for candidates to file petition signatures to get on the March ballot.
